Sawmill Restaurant in Purbeck, Dorset
Seasonal countryside dining at Kingston Country Courtyard.
The Sawmill Restaurant
If you’re searching for a restaurant in Purbeck Dorset, The Sawmill Restaurant at Kingston Country Courtyard offers seasonal dining within our relaxed, historic courtyard setting.
Open to residents and non-residents, we welcome everything from quiet midweek suppers to celebratory gatherings with friends and family. Our approach is simple — quality ingredients, thoughtful cooking and warm, attentive service without pretence.
Instead, expect generous plates, seasonal flavours and an atmosphere that feels comfortable and unhurried.
Menus change with the seasons, shaped by what’s growing, grazing and available locally across Dorset. By working closely with local producers and adapting throughout the year, we keep our cooking honest, grounded and reflective of the countryside around us.

Breakfast in Purbeck
Breakfast at The Sawmill is open to both overnight guests and non-residents, available at a flat rate of £14.50 per person.
For our staying guests, it’s included and intentionally unhurried. For local visitors, it’s an easy way to start the day well — whether you’re heading out walking, cycling or exploring nearby Corfe Castle.
Your breakfast includes access to our continental buffet with fresh fruit, pastries, cereals and yoghurt, alongside unlimited juice, Dorset tea and freshly brewed coffee. You can then choose a hot dish cooked to order — from a full English to lighter options such as pancakes, eggs or vegetarian plates.
We’re proud to source our free-range eggs from Kingswood Farm in Studland and our sausages from GWR Holes in Kimmeridge — two local producers who share our focus on quality and care.
Generous, seasonal and designed to set you up for the day.

Evening Dining at The Sawmill Restaurant in Purbeck
As the courtyard settles into evening, The Sawmill becomes warm and softly lit — a place to unwind after a day exploring Purbeck or to gather for something worth celebrating.
Our dinner menus balance comforting favourites with refined seasonal touches. Dishes are thoughtful without being fussy, generous without being heavy — confident countryside cooking designed to be enjoyed rather than admired from afar.
You might find slow-cooked pulled ox cheek folded through our lasagne, fresh seafood simply prepared, or handmade desserts that finish the evening properly. The menu evolves with the seasons, shaped by what’s available locally and prepared with care in our kitchen.
We welcome both residents and local diners, whether joining us for a relaxed supper, a midweek catch-up or a special occasion. We’re as much a place for midweek suppers as we are for something worth celebrating.

Lunch, Coffee & Courtyard Moments
During selected periods throughout the year, we open for relaxed daytime dining — ideal for walkers, cyclists and those exploring nearby Corfe Castle or the wider Isle of Purbeck.
Lunch at The Sawmill is informal and seasonal. Expect light plates, freshly prepared sandwiches and nourishing bowls, alongside good coffee and homemade cakes served in our courtyard setting when the weather allows.
It’s an easy stop-in, whether you’re breaking up a walk, meeting friends or simply taking a slower afternoon.
Opening times vary seasonally, so we recommend checking availability before visiting.
For guests heading out early or planning a day exploring the coast, we also offer freshly prepared packed lunches. Choose from classic sandwiches or nourishing bowls, with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options available on request.
Packed lunches are available to both residents and walkers, and can be ordered in advance for collection the following morning.

Rooted in Dorset
We believe good food begins long before it reaches the plate.
For us, provenance isn’t a marketing line — it’s about relationships and trust. Many of our ingredients come from Dorset producers we know personally, people who care about what they grow and rear just as much as we care about how it’s cooked.
Our free-range eggs come from Kingswood Farm in Studland, just a few miles from our courtyard. The sausages and pork you’ll find on our menus are supplied by GWR Holes in Kimmeridge — a trusted local butcher with a long-standing reputation for quality.
We drizzle honey from Horty’s, a local beekeeper rooted in the Purbeck landscape, and we’re proud to serve ice cream and sorbet from Purbeck Ice Cream — whose land borders ours here in Kingston.
That same local focus extends beyond the kitchen. Behind the bar, you’ll find Purbeck Cider, ales from the Isle of Purbeck Brewery and Gloriette Gin distilled in nearby Corfe Castle village — drinks that reflect the same sense of place as the food on your plate.
By adapting our menus to the time of year and working closely with producers around us, we keep our cooking grounded, honest and reflective of the countryside we call home.
Looking ahead, we’re taking this one step further. In 2026, we’ll introduce our own larder kitchen and begin planting our first crops here on site — strengthening our connection between garden and table even more.
